A woman decided to share with us this shocking story. She said that she practically lost her daughter, after she had put some piece of the leaf of a plant in her mouth.     No! Don’t destroy the plant! Dieffenbachias are highly beneficial to the air as they can remove toxins. If you are concerned for your children then for goodness sake put it up out of reach or give it to someone who has no children. Normal handling, such as repotting, is NOT dangerous to the average person. If you have pets that could chew on the leaves please keep it in a place that is inaccessible to them. The common name “dumbcane” was given for a reason!

    A common name for dieffenbachia is Dumb Cane. Does that tell you something?
